In my work as a single-handed GP on the Bradford/ Halifax border I felt ill equipped to help my patients who had substance misuse. So, in partnership with a Substance Misuse service in Calderdale, I started a fortnightly clinic. I found the work rewarding and challenging. This eventually led to me working almost full time as a GP in the field of Substance and Alcohol Misuse. This included working for the Bridge Project for 8 years before I retired in January 2013. As a trustee, it is has been a pleasure and a privilege to be involved with the board and senior leadership team in the ongoing and developing work of treatment and recovery services at Bridge.
