The Bridge Project is pleased to announce an exciting employment opportunity. We are seeking a highly competent practitioner to be an Early Help Substance Use Specialist. The role is for 28 hours per week.
The Early Help Substance Use Team enhances Bradford Children and Families Trust Family Hubs by embedding a dedicated team of Substance Use Specialist roles. Their purpose is to strengthen the system’s ability to identify and respond earlier where parental substance use may be emerging, unacknowledged, minimised, or only partially understood.
All roles in this strand are non-case holding. Instead, the team works alongside Early Help practitioners at all grades, providing consultation, reflective practice, training, auditing, and modelling of best practice. The aim is to ensure consistent, high-quality responses to parental substance use within Early Help and to build practitioner confidence in working with families where substance use may be hidden or minimised.
Each Early Help Substance Use Specialists are embedded in one of Bradford’s four Family Hubs and works as part of a coordinated team, under the direction of the Lead Practitioner – Substance Use Specialist and Service Manager.
We are looking for a practitioner who has at least 3 years’ experience in substance misuse/substance use delivery services, with proven expertise in early intervention, along with the ability to undertake safeguarding and risk analysis in complex family contexts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide clear feedback, reports and recommendations is essential as is being skilled in trauma-informed and relational practice approaches.

About the Drive Project (Bradford)
The Drive Project is not a pilot or test programme, It is a well-established national model, currently being rolled out across England, reflecting sustained national commitment to coordinated, whole-system responses to domestic abuse. In Bradford, the service is being delivered by The Bridge Project in partnership with the Drive Central Team and West Yorkshire Combined Authority and will be fully embedded within local safeguarding and partnership arrangements from the outset.
The Drive Project works with individuals who pose the highest risk of causing serious harm within intimate or family relationships. The programme combines intensive individual case management with a coordinated multi-agency response, creating the conditions for accountability, behaviour change and sustained risk reduction, while keeping victim and survivor safety at the centre of all activity.
The Bradford Drive service will be delivered by a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team, and we are recruiting to all posts comprising of:
The team will operate with fidelity to the Drive model, a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework, balancing challenge and accountability with engagement and support. Staff will work closely a range of systems and service such as police, probation, children’s and adult safeguarding, housing, health and specialist adult and child domestic abuse services to ensure a coordinated and effective response to high-risk harm and victim/ survivor safety.
Funding and Retention
The Drive Programme is currently funded through a Home Office national programme. While funding beyond March 2027 remains subject to government spending reviews and funding cycles, Drive is a well-established, evidence-based model that is currently under national roll-out, reflecting continued national prioritisation of whole-system responses to high-harm domestic abuse.
In recognition of the commitment involved in joining a time-limited, externally funded programme, the organisation offers a £2,000 retention payment. This will be paid through the March 2027 payroll to staff who successfully complete the full funded period. The payment is guaranteed and will be made regardless of whether the programme continues beyond this date.

You will bring relevant professional experience, strong assessment, engagement and communication skills, and the ability to work confidently with complexity, risk and challenge. Across all roles, we are seeking people who can balance clear boundaries and accountability with empathy, curiosity and respect, and who are able to work reflectively within a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework.
You will be comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in close partnership with other agencies, sharing information appropriately and contributing to collective decision-making. We are particularly keen to hear from people who value learning, supervision and reflective practice, and who want to help shape and embed a high-quality service within a well-established national model.

The Bridge Project is a Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. We work with individuals, families, partners, and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the well-established multiple needs navigation service as a navigator, delivering support to people who are at risk of re-offending and who are managed by the Probation Services. The role aims to improve the lives and wellbeing of people with multiple needs, who find it difficult to engage in services, who revolve in and out of services or are excluded from services. As a Navigator, you will work in an outreach capacity to help people who experience multiple needs (housing, substance misuse, offending behaviour, mental health, and physical health) to access the services and the interventions that they need to build their resilience, gain confidence, and acquire the personal and social assets they need to meet their aspirations.
You will be qualified to Social Care Level 3 or equivalent or qualified through appropriate life or job experience, along with at least 1 years’ experience of delivering advice or support in health, social care, homelessness or an offender service setting in the last 3 years. You will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and able to manage your time effectively, working as part of a supportive team to ensure a high-quality service is maintained, whilst applying your knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care approaches.

Bridge Recovery Housing provides individual homes, support and a high-quality housing management service for service users including survivors of domestic abuse, some of whom are involved in sex working and/or are engaged in the Bradford RESET programme. RESET is a trauma-informed programme led by Bridge, that works with people who have caused or who are causing harm in their intimate and/ or family relationships.
We are now looking to appoint a Floating Support and Housing Worker who will support survivors of domestic abuse, some with experience of sex working or involvement in the RESET programme, helping them maintain their tenancy and achieve personal goals. The role will include intensive housing-related support, delivered in close coordination with Bridge Housing Officers, Navigation Workers, and Family Case Workers.
The focus will be on supporting stability, safety, and security, working towards move-on accommodation, volunteering, training, and employment once the survivor’s situation has stabilised.
This role will work exclusively under the direction of the Senior Housing Officer and will be allocated cases solely involving survivors of domestic abuse referred internally to Bridge Recovery Homes. The postholder will offer intensive, trauma-informed support to survivors to help them maintain stability and safety in their accommodation, and to work towards long-term independence.
It is essential that you have at least 12 months experience of supporting service users who have experienced domestic abuse and/or other high levels of vulnerabilities, ideally in a housing context. You will have knowledge of tenancy management, housing options and benefits, as well as experience of collaborative working with other professionals, have a positive outlook and ideas, and who thrives working as part of a team.
You will be required to work flexible hours to meet service user and business needs, which may not include normal office hours and travel to service users’ homes within an identified geographical area and transport service users as and when needed. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is a requirement of the role.
This is a fixed term contract role until 30 June 2026, continuation is dependent on funding, working full-time hours. The role is subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring check (the results of which would not necessarily exclude applicants from consideration). We work with individuals, families and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, recognising that solutions are often complex. Housing First has proven success in supporting people with multiple needs and vulnerabilities to maintain housing. The main premise is that an individual should not need to prove they are ready for housing and is instead given a permanent offer of their own home, along with an intensive long-term support package to enable them to maintain it. Housing First is delivered as a partnership between Bradford Council and the Bridge Project.

The Bridge Project is a well-established, vibrant Charity with a dedicated team providing services to a broad range of people experiencing the effects of deprivation and health inequalities. We are now looking to recruit a Young Persons Drug and Alcohol Worker to join our One80 team. The position is permanent and on a full-time basis (37.5 hours).
The One80 team provides early intervention and highly structured treatment for drug and/or alcohol misuse to young people. You will be a big part of a small team where everyone takes a flexible and collaborative approach to work and is committed to improving outcomes for young people up to the age of 24 years, to promote recovery from substance misuse and to secure positive health and wellbeing outcomes.
We are looking for someone who has a relevant professional qualification with a minimum of 1 years’ experience of working with young people with alcohol/drug problems and/or working with young people/children with complex needs. You will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and able to manage your time effectively, working as part of the team to ensure a high-quality service is maintained, whilst applying your knowledge of the range of drug/alcohol related problems and their impact on young people, their families and the community. You will have experience of and the ability to liaise and build links with professionals from a variety of disciplines as well as knowledge of legislation, guidelines and procedures relating to children and young people.
You will be passionate about changing lives and what we do, with a positive and engaging approach to our young people, as situations can sometimes be difficult and challenging so you will need to be non-judgemental, with a sensitive attitude and a good understanding of how to meet complex needs related to substance misuse.
The successful candidate will be able to work Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 09:30 to 17:30, Tuesdays 09:30 to 19:00 and Thursdays 09:30 to 16:00. There is also an element of flexibility around working hours required.
